Trending In Tokyo: It’s Strawberry Season!

I spy with my little eye something sweet and juicy trending in Tokyo. That’s right, it’s finally strawberry season! If you’re not already a fan of this plump red fruit, the strawberry mania in Japan will definitely turn you into one.
The top quality of strawberries in Japan makes them a bit of a “luxury fruit.” Jan. 15th was #nationalstrawberryday but that certainly doesn’t mean the trend is over and done with!

Here, we’ve picked (much like how we like to pick our strawberries) the best strawberry-themed accessories, beauty products, and afternoon tea and cafe spots found in Tokyo.

Warning: sweetness overload, you’ll want it all!

Strawberry Afternoon Tea and Cafe Spots

1. La Petite Mercerie

Sweet Berry Shortcake is the recommended seasonal menu item. If you want to treat yourself (because you simply deserve it), why not try that Strawberry & Rare Cheese Verrine? Not overbearingly sweet, it’s even perfect for those who don’t have a sweet tooth!

2. Laduree

Nothing could be more traditional Japanese then adzuki (sweet red bean) paste. Laduree has taken its strawberry sweets to the next level by adding these enticing beans to their seasonal macaroons and pastries. If you’re having a hard time choosing, why not try out their strawberry afternoon tea? We recommend going there on an empty stomach as there’s so much to choose from and you’ll regret it if you aren’t able to finish it all!
