Ambassador Kennedy enjoys plum-blossom viewing
NHK -- Mar 10
US Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy has enjoyed plum blossoms at the famed Kairakuen garden, north of Tokyo.

Kennedy visited the popular tourist spot in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Monday.

About one-third of the garden's 3,000 trees are in full bloom, in red and white.

As she took a walk with Ibaraki Governor Masaru Hashimoto, Kennedy drew branches close to her to enjoy the fragrance of the flowers.

Schoolchildren and visitors greeted her, and the ambassador responded with smiles.

One visitor remarked that she is graceful.
