Police arrest operator of 'One Piece' spoiler blog
Jiji -- Sep 08
Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly posting images of One Piece on his blog before the official release of an edition of a weekly magazine containing the popular Japanese manga series.

Arrested by a joint investigation team of the Kumamoto and Akita prefectural police departments on suspected copyright law violation was Ryoji Hottai, who lives in the northern Japan city of Akita.

This marked the first domestic case in which police took action against a spoiler website operator. Hottai has admitted the allegations against him, according to the police department of Kumamoto Prefecture, southwestern Japan.

Such spoiler website operators post images and dialogue by characters in manga works on their blogs by scanning them or using other methods after buying the manga at shops that sell items before their official releases. They earn ad revenue from the sites, with the levels of income changing depending on the number of views.
