Oct 28 (NHK) - The Tokyo Motor Show opens to the public on Saturday, with about 150 businesses and groups showcasing their latest technology.
Many companies are unveiling electric concept cars to respond to the global shift away from internal combustion engines. Attention is also on artificial intelligence technology that can monitor changes in drivers' expressions and voices.
The event has suffered a decline in the number of visitors, from over 2-million at its peak in 1991, to 810,000 in 2015.
This is due to a stagnant domestic market with fewer younger people buying cars and the growing popularity of motor shows in China. Many major US automakers are absent from the Tokyo event.
