'1,000 days to go' event at Narita Airport

Oct 29 (NHK) - People gathered at Narita Airport near Tokyo on Saturday to mark 1,000 days before the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Among the participants was Olympic hammer-throw champion Koji Murofushi. He is sports director of the Tokyo organizing committee.

Murofushi said Narita Airport will be a gateway for international athletes coming to Olympic venues. He pledged to work with everyone to create the best environment for the sports events.

Visitors at a booth put on VR headsets and rode a surfboard on simulated waves. The surfing event in the Tokyo Games will be held in Chiba Prefecture.
