Another volcano erupts in Japan's Kirishima mountain range
Jiji -- Apr 21
Another volcano erupted in the Kirishima mountain range in the Kyushu region, southwestern Japan, on Thursday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The eruption occurred at 3:39 p.m. (6:39 a.m. GMT) at Mount Io on Ebino Highland in the range, which straddles the prefectures of Miyazaki and Kagoshima, the agency said.

The volcano erupted for the first time in 250 years.

According to the two prefectures, no damage has been reported so far.

The agency raised its volcanic alert level for the 1,317-meter mountain from Level 2 to Level 3, the third-highest level on the Japanese alert scale of 5. Level 2 urges people not to approach the crater, while Level 3 restricts entry into the volcano.
