Tropical storm Francisco moves off Kyushu

NHK -- Aug 06

Tropical storm Francisco has moved off to the north of the western Japanese island of Kyushu.

But strong winds and rough seas persist in northern Kyushu. The Meteorological Agency is warning residents to stay on the alert for mud slides, strong winds and high waves.

Other areas in western Japan are covered by developed rain clouds.

Atmospheric conditions are unstable in eastern and northern Japan, causing localized rain clouds to develop.

Severe tropical storm Lekima is over the sea to the east of the Philippines. Weather officials forecast the storm will travel northwest, while developing in strength.

It is expected to reach within a close distance of the Sakishima Islands in the southern prefecture of Okinawa from Thursday through Friday. Winds will become powerful, and seas will be very rough, from Wednesday.
