Partial solar eclipse observed in Asia and Africa
NHK -- Jun 22
People in many parts of Asia and Africa observed a partial solar eclipse on Sunday.

The Moon started passing directly between the Sun and the Earth at around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Japan time.

The celestial show lasted for two and a half hours and was the first partial solar eclipse that could be seen from Japan in six months.

In the southern city of Naha, up to 79 percent of the Sun's surface was blocked. The ratio was 35 percent in Tokyo and 17 percent in Sapporo, northern Japan.

Sky watchers in parts of India and China were able to see the "ring of fire", as the Moon covered the center of the Sun and left a complete circle of light around it.
