BOJ paints brighter economic picture for all 9 regions
News On Japan via Yomiuri -- Jul 06
The Bank of Japan painted a brighter economic picture for each of the nation's nine regions in a quarterly report Thursday, the first across-the-board upgrade since October 2009.
In the regional economic report adopted at a meeting of branch managers in Tokyo, the central bank said "all regions reported that their economic assessments had generally improved" from the previous report released in April.
The central bank cited firm private consumption backed by subsidies for fuel-efficient vehicles, reconstruction demand after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and business investment growth reflecting an earnings recovery.
