Violent storms lashed Japan's Kinki region on Aug. 14, bringing flooding and destruction during the country's Obon festival to honor the dead.
In Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, Eizo Nishiyama, 69, and his wife remain missing after the swollen Shizugawa River burst its eastern banks and carried away their home. Meanwhile, landslides and tornado-force winds wreaked havoc across the region.
