Fault-finding network engineer
Our network suffered the catastrophic loss of a Windows domain controller, along with the backups of that domain controller.
Since building a replacement Windows domain controller, the network has been unreliable at times. We believe this may be due to some errant or missing Group Policy on the new controller, or due to some client settings that are still pointing at the missing server. Due to the loss of the old domain controller, we are unable to cross-check settings.
At times, some Windows clients appear to lose connection, at least for some types of traffic. This causes issues for the VOIP software that they are using. This may be a firewall issue, although the Windows firewall is disabled on these machines.
There are also some Linux servers on the network. Their role in this disruption is not fully understood, as they were configured by a member of staff who has since left the company.
We require an experienced all-round network troubleshooter who has in-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux who is able to:
* read Wireshark traces and determine the root causes of disruption
* configure Windows domain controller and DHCP server
* configure Windows clients
* configure Linux servers

English Teacher
Deats English is a family owned school with a great reputation in our community.
We?re looking for a teacher who likes and is interested in people, particularly kids. If you don?t love kids, you can stop reading now. We also hope you intend to stay a while, and really form a relationship with our students and their parents. We feel that one of our best qualities is the community we have helped build and the friendships we share with our students and their families.
Teaching:
Deats English offers a relaxed, fun environment, with a structured curriculum that still allows the teacher a lot of freedom and spontaneity. We make it a primary goal of each class that both the teacher and the students have a great time with the lesson, and I mean that. I do not want bored or stressed out teachers as much as I don?t want bored, stressed out students. And we will be there to help you and listen to you to make sure that never becomes the case.
Teachers work 5 days a week at our primary school in Hofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Every day is different, but you will typically teach between 4-5 classes a day, Tues-Sat. In addition, we have three long vacations throughout the year that total nearly 4 weeks.
Salary:
Starting salary is 250,000 yen a month with opportunities for raises based upon performance and loyalty. I am not greedy. If you take care of me, I can assure you that I will take very good care of you. Also, I set no limits on potential future salary. If you are interested in a school that is quickly growing (and we are) and would like to stay with us for a while and actively participate and help us continue to grow, then trust me, I will make absolutely certain you are compensated in kind for your contribution.
Students:
Our students are all super nice kids, from little tiny guys to high school seniors. Although we also teach a very small number of adults, our focus is on kids. Our aim is to ready Japanese young people for modern society, sending bilingual young adults into the world, leaving their peers behind in terms of real ability. We also actively work to foster international and cross-cultural friendships through activities and events like parties, letter and video exchanges, and international homestay trips, among other things. We hope through these events, our students will come to have a better understanding not only of the rest of the world, but, more importantly, of their own.
We have a close, personal relationship with our students and their parents. This is the primary reason we have become as successful as we have in such a short time. We care about their well-being and growth as real people, not as numbers leading to the bottom line of a balance sheet.
Location:
Deats English is nestled in Hofu City, in the mountains of beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture. Yamaguchi, often referred to as "Little Kyoto" because of its similarity and connection to the city, is awash in historical treasures, natural beauty, and ease of living. The larger cities of Hiroshima and Fukuoka are each just 30 minutes away by Shinkansen.
Job Requirements:
* GENUINE love of children (We mean this. Notice its position in the hierarchy.)
* NATIVE speaker of English
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
* MUST currently reside in Japan
Please submit a resume with RECENT PICTURE.
RESUMES WITHOUT PICTURES AND THOSE OF NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS WILL BE DELETED.

Others have several years? experience with an academic journal or as a scientific editor. Copy editing experience is also a definite advantage, but not essential. Good time-management and organizational skills as well as the ability to work calmly under pressure are important.
This position is open to both life and physical scientists, but a background in chemistry, physics or clinical work would be a definite advantage. Other language abilities are an advantage but not a necessity.
