NTT DOCOMO to Support Reforestation in Philippines (Jun 17) TOKYO, JAPAN, June 17, 2008 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. will partner with affiliate the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and its mobile subsidiary SMART Communications, Inc. to support reforestation in the Philippines for the next three years. The companies aim to help reduce carbon dioxide, support biodiversity, promote sustainable land use and prevent natural disasters due to deforestation. DOCOMO will provide funding to the PLDT-SMART Foundation Inc., a major philanthropic organization, which will organize reforestation in to-be-decided strategic locations, such as Angat Dam, one of the nation's largest dams and the major source of drinking water for Metro Manila.
