DOCOMO to Increase Investment in mmbi, Inc., an Approved Key Terrestrial Business Operator for Mobile Reception of V-High Multimedia Broadcasting Services

TOKYO, JAPAN, November 29, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will subscribe to a new share issuance through a third-party share allotment by its subsidiary mmbi, Inc., an approved key terrestrial broadcasting business operator for mobile reception of “Mobacas” V-High multimedia broadcasting services, in accordance with today’s mmbi board resolution.
DOCOMO, aiming at further expansion of its group’s business scope, will purchase 584,380 shares of mmbi’s common stock for 29.219 billion Japanese yen, raising its shareholding from 51.0% at present to 60.45%.
DOCOMO, which is transitioning into an integrated service company placing mobility at the core, will continue to fully support mmbi’s “NOTTV”, broadcasting station for smartphones, by offering compatible handsets to DOCOMO customers.

DOCOMO Again Earns Highest Marks in Customer-Satisfaction Study

TOKYO, JAPAN, November 24, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it received the highest marks among Japan’s mobile phone operators in the 2011 Japan Mobile Phone Service StudySM, a customer-satisfaction study conducted by J.D. Power Asia Pacific.
This is the second consecutive year in which the company has received top marks in the customer-satisfaction study, another indication that DOCOMO continues to offer unrivaled mobile experiences in the Japanese market.
The study examined customer satisfaction with mobile phone operators based on six factors: handset, service offered, network quality/coverage area, cost, handset purchase experience and customer care. DOCOMO scored the highest in four factors: service offered, network quality/coverage area, handset purchase experience and customer care.

DOCOMO to Introduce Multiple Billing Plans for LTE Devices

TOKYO, JAPAN, October 18, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that in conjunction with the coming launch of smartphones for its extra-high-speed next-generation LTE service, Xi™ (read “Crossy”), several new billing plans covering both voice and data services will be introduced following the debut of the first Xi smartphone in or after November.
DOCOMO will offer two pay-as-you-go voice billing plans—“Type Xi Plan” and two-year “Type Xi Plan Ninen”—plus two flat-rate data billing plans—“Xi Packet Flat-rate” and the two-tiered “Xi Packet Flat-Rate Double.”
Specially discounted introductory rates will be offered for the flat-rate plans. “Xi Packet Flat-rate” will be available for just 4,410 yen (including tax) per month through April 2012, compared to the regular rate of 5,985 yen thereafter. NTT Group members Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) and NTT DOCOMO, INC. (NTT DOCOMO) announced today their participation in ITU Telecom World 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland from October 24 to 27.

NTT DOCOMO Establishes Sixth U.S. Advisory Board

TOKYO, JAPAN, October 3, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it has established its sixth U.S. Advisory Board and will convene the first meeting in the United States on October 6.
The new board is chaired by former Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) chairman Tom Wheeler, currently a managing director of Core Capital Partners. Also on the board is Michael Katz, Ph.D., formerly chief economist at the Federal Communications Commission and currently a professor in the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
The two-year board will meet with DOCOMO representatives twice each year in the United States. DOCOMO will invite one or two special guests to each meeting, beginning with Professor Pankaj Ghemawat from the IESE Business School in Barcelona.

DOCOMO and Orange to Procure Smartphone from Sharp

TOKYO, JAPAN, September 29, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will procure an Android smartphone from Sharp Corporation together with Orange, one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, marking the first time for an overseas operator to deploy a DOCOMO smartphone.
The smartphone model, a 3D-capable handset initially developed for DOCOMO and sold as the AQUOS PHONE SH-12C in Japan, was redesigned for the European market and named the “AQUOS PHONE SH80F.” Orange will introduce the model in France from October as its first mobile device capable of converting images and videos from 2D to 3D in real time.

DOCOMO Deploys Two Large-Zone Base Stations in Tokai Region

TOKYO, JAPAN, September 29, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it installed two large-zone base stations for mobile coverage during emergencies in the downtown areas of Nagoya and Gifu cities, two of the more densely populated areas in the Tokai Region between Tokyo and Osaka, which historically has been struck by major earthquakes. Both base stations became operational on September 28.
Large-zone base stations, which are deployed separately from ordinary base stations in times of emergency, are among DOCOMO’s latest efforts to ensure the maintenance of mobile service during blackouts and natural disasters. Capable of sending and receiving signals to/from handsets in 360 degrees over distances of up to approximately seven kilometers, these special base stations are located on high atop extra-earthquake-resistant structures and incorporate independent power supply and redundant transmission lines for uninterrupted service.

NTT DOCOMO to Increase Investment in Germany’s net mobile AG —Enhancement of net mobile’s payment platform in Europe through acquisition of Bankverein Werther—

TOKYO, JAPAN, September 22, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it plans to make an additional investment of up to 28.4 million euros, or about 3.1 billion yen*, in the leading German mobile and interactive service provider, net mobile AG, which it acquired in 2009 through its wholly-owned German subsidiary.
This additional investment will be used by net mobile mainly to acquire a controlling stake in Bankverein Werther, a private German bank with strong electronic commerce and payment services. Utilizing Bankverein Werther’s existing banking license and credit card licenses, as well as the bank’s main systems, net mobile will be able to greatly enhance its mobile payment platform. In addition to net mobile’s current operator-billing systems, such as premium SMS payments, after the acquisition it will offer direct debit and credit card payments and also develop various means of settlement.

DOCOMO to Introduce Two Prepaid Data Billing Plans

TOKYO, JAPAN, September 14, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. today announced it will introduce two prepaid billing plans, “Prepaid Data Plan 20h” and “Prepaid Data Plan 100h,” for 3G data communication in Japan this coming December. The plans will first be implemented for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.’s next generation portable entertainment system, “PlayStation®Vita (3G/Wi-Fi model),” which will be launched in Japan, on December 17.
Prepaid Data Plan 20h will cost 980 yen (incl. tax) for 20 hours of access to the DOCOMO 3G network (max. 128 Kbps downlink / 64 Kbps uplink) over a 30-day period.
Prepaid Data Plan 100h will cost 4,980 yen (incl. tax) for 103 hours of network access (max. 128 Kbps downlink / 64 Kbps uplink) over a 180-day period, which includes three hours of access at max. speeds of 14 Mbps downlink and 5.7 Mbps uplink in FOMA™ HIGH-SPEED areas of the DOCOMO 3G network.
