Sakura - what a perfect way to end the ski season! The past week of +20 temps has finally coaxed the delicate cherry blossoms from their buds, filling the Furano valley with pink and white.

Here is the information regarding summer and autum lift operations at Shiga Kogen. Many people visit the region in summer for the trekking, walking and generally enjoy the fabulous views from the mountains.

This last day of the season has been a cloudy and rather dark one after the finer weather of the last few days - cooler too with a high of around 15 degrees in the village (and not much cooler even up top) with rain at times.

Temperatures have remained relatively low over the last week or so hovering around 20-25 degrees and below 20 on some days. It has been a mix of fine weather and rain at times, but definitely less humidity than we are used to in June. Today has been hotter .....

The snow season is now officially over at Kagura (and indeed all the resorts in the region). Yesterday was the last day of the season at Kagura. It hasn't been the best of seasons in terms of snowfall of course, with less than we are used to, so .....

Tenjin closed its slopes yesterday so time for a quick look back over the season. Not a classic in terms of snowfall but when you have been spoilt as we have for so long, it is easy to forget that even in a below average year there is still plenty .....
