Story Behind 'A Light of the Harbor'

Nov 22 (News On Japan) - A former gangster living as a fisherman, Miura encounters a young boy named Kōta who has lost his sight in an accident. Kōta, who also lost his parents in a traffic accident, had been taken in by an aunt and her family but suffered repeated abuse.

With neither of them having a true place to belong, the pair gradually form a bond that grows into a special friendship transcending their age difference. Yet just as Miura manages to save enough money for an operation to restore Kōta’s vision, he suddenly disappears without explanation.

Time passes, and twelve years later Kōta, whose sight was successfully restored, is now working as a police officer. While searching for Miura, the benefactor who changed his life, he uncovers a hidden truth.
