TOKYO, Feb 13 (News On Japan) - Seven-Eleven has raised prices on its onigiri in response to soaring rice costs, with the increases introduced gradually since February 10th across 29 items including rice balls and boxed meals.
The average increase is around 20 yen, with the Hand-Rolled Onigiri Tuna Mayonnaise and Hand-Rolled Onigiri Hokkaido Kombu rising by 18 yen from 178 yen to 196 yen.
The Hand-Rolled Onigiri Charcoal-Grilled Red Salmon and Hand-Rolled Onigiri Spicy Cod Roe with Extra Filling will increase by 19 yen from 213 yen to 232 yen.
Among bento items, the Oyakodon will rise by 51 yen from 594 yen to 645 yen.
This marks the second price increase driven by higher rice costs since last year, and the company said it will continue efforts such as reviewing product specifications and expanding its lineup of lower-priced rice balls.
