2021年下半期の米ドル/円の動き
2021年上半期(1~6月)の米ドル/円は円安・ドル高が続き、年明け時点の102円台から6月末には110円台になった。
そして下半期に入った7月からしばらくの間109~111円の狭いレンジで上下していたものの、9月下旬以降は円安が進行している。
9月下旬以降円安が継続
米ドル/円は2020年にはパンデミックによる世界の景気低迷懸念を受け円高・ドル安が継続。年末年始には102円台まで円高になった。
しかし昨年末にはワクチンが完成し、世界各国で接種が開始。ワクチン接種が進めば景気が回復するとの期待が広がり、年明けから一転して円安・ドル高が進行。6月末には110円台になった。
下半期に入った7月以降からは、109~111円の狭いレンジ内で細かい上下がしばらく続いた。だが9月下旬以降はまた円安が進行し、11月中には2017年初頭以来となる115円台をつけた。
円安の背景には米のインフレ懸念
今年になって円安が進行している背景には、すでに述べたような世界的な景気回復期待の他にアメリカのインフレ率が上昇していることがある。
アメリカのインフレ率は景気回復が進行するにしたがって春頃から上昇を始め、4月は4.2%と前月より1.6%も上昇。その後も沈静する気配はなく10月は6.2%で1990年以来31年ぶりの高さとなった。また食料品などを除いたコア指数も同様に4月から急激な上昇が続いている。
インフレが進行するとインフレ抑制のため中央銀行は金融緩和を縮小し、その後は利上げなど引き締めをする必要性に迫られる。インフレ率が高まることで今後の量的緩和縮小と早期利上げ観測が台頭し、今年のドル高の大きな要因となった。
為替レートは二国間の政策金利に大きく影響されるので、FXをやっているなら政策金利とその見通しは随時チェックする必要がある。
長期金利も影響
そして7~9月に円安が進行せずに停滞していた理由の1つとして、米長期金利の低下がある。長期金利とは10年物国債の利回りのことで、国債市場で国債が売買されることで利回りもリアルタイムで上下する。
米長期金利は今年3月頃まで上昇を続け一時は1.7%にまで到達したが、4月以降は下げが続いた。特に7月~9月前半には1.2~1.4%低水準に留まっていたことが、この時期のドル停滞の一因になったと思われる。しかし9月後半以降は米長期金利が再度上昇し、それとともにドルも上昇していった。
来年はどこまでドルが高くなるか
間もなく2021年が終わり、2022年が明けようとしている。2022年はアメリカがさらなる量的緩和縮小と、何度かの利上げを行うことが確実と見られている。そうなるとドル高はさらに進行し、120円を目指す展開になっていくと予想される。
