Japan lifts 10-year bond coupon rate to 0.5% as yields rise

TOKYO, Jan 06 (NHK) - Japan's Finance Ministry says it is more than doubling the coupon rate on 10-year government bonds amid a rapid rise in market yields.

The ministry says 10-year bonds to be issued in January will have a coupon rate of 0.5 percent.

The rate has been 0.2 percent since last April. It has been more than eight years since it was set at 0.5 percent or higher.
