HelloFresh's exit from Japan was 'last minute decision', claims source

HelloFresh staff in Japan were among the last in the company to be made aware operations there were ending, according to a senior source.
Five days before Christmas last year, Thomas Griesel, HelloFresh CEO International, sent a group-wide email – sighted by The Grocer – announcing that the meal kit brand would be retreating from the Japanese market. But according to the source, the Japan team weren’t told until two days later that their employment would be terminated by the end of December.
