OSAKA, Apr 26 (News On Japan) - A fire broke out on the evening of April 25th on an electronic billboard attached to the Yodobashi Camera commercial complex in front of JR Osaka Station, prompting a large emergency response. No injuries were reported.
According to fire authorities, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on the building that houses Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Umeda and Links Umeda, located in Ofukacho, Kita Ward, Osaka. A facility representative called to report that "flames are coming from the electronic billboard."
Fifteen fire trucks were dispatched to the scene, and the fire was extinguished about 30 minutes later. A portion of the electronic signage near the northeast entrance on the second floor was damaged, but the flames did not spread inside the building.
Footage taken by a passerby shows flames engulfing the "ヨ" character on the billboard.
The site is located just north of JR Osaka Station, in a bustling area frequented by large numbers of pedestrians.
