TAIPEI, Aug 26 (News On Japan) - Taiwanese authorities have confirmed they sanctioned two Japanese men after the pair held up a Chinese flag and declared that “Taiwan is China” in a busy commercial district of Taipei on August 24.
According to Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency, the men entered Taiwan visa-free, recorded a video in a mix of Japanese and Chinese, and posted the footage to Chinese social media platforms.
The agency condemned the conduct as illegal and warned it could harm “Taiwan’s interests, public safety and order.” One of the men has been deported, while the other, who had already returned to Japan, has been barred from re-entering Taiwan.
