OSAKA, Oct 05 (News On Japan) - A mobile battery caught fire inside a train on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line on October 4th, injuring two women and disrupting operations on both northbound and southbound tracks.
According to police, the fire started when a female passenger’s mobile battery, kept inside her bag, suddenly ignited while the train was running. The owner of the battery and a woman sitting next to her suffered burns and were taken to the hospital, though their injuries are considered minor.
As a result, Osaka Metro temporarily suspended operations on both directions of the Midosuji Line, affecting more than 50,000 passengers before service was restored.
