Nagano, May 06 (News On Japan) - At least 24 mountain climbing accidents have occurred in Nagano Prefecture since the start of the Golden Week holidays in late April, resulting in four fatalities.
On May 5th, a man from Saitama Prefecture fell while climbing Mount Togakushi in Nagano City. Authorities reported a total of six incidents that day, with at least three people sustaining serious injuries.
Two French women were also injured in a fall on Mount Yake in the Northern Alps. The string of accidents began on April 26th, highlighting the growing toll of alpine emergencies during the busy travel season.
