Boy Used Kitchen Knife to Kill Grandfather in Aichi Home

AICHI, May 12 (News On Japan) - A 16-year-old boy in Tahara, Aichi Prefecture, has been arrested on suspicion of killing his 75-year-old grandfather using a kitchen knife found at their home, according to investigators familiar with the case.

The high school student is suspected of stabbing his grandfather in the neck with a blade while he was asleep in the first-floor bedroom of their home around 2 a.m. on May 9th. The boy was formally sent to prosecutors on May 11th.

The suspect has admitted to the charges and has also hinted at killing his 72-year-old grandmother, who was found dead alongside the grandfather.

Investigators believe the boy used a kitchen knife from the house to stab both grandparents as they slept. The knife was later recovered from the family’s property and has been seized by police.

A forensic autopsy revealed both victims had multiple stab and slash wounds across their bodies. Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack.
