Elderly Man Falls from High-Rise, Kills Cyclist Below

OSAKA, May 20 (News On Japan) - A 70-year-old man fell from a high-rise apartment building in Osaka and struck a cyclist on the sidewalk below, resulting in the deaths of both men.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on May 19th in Honjo-nishi, Kita Ward, Osaka. A woman passing by called emergency services, reporting that "a person has fallen, and a cyclist is also involved."

According to police, a 70-year-old man who lived in the building fell from a high floor and struck a man who had been riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.

Based on belongings found at the scene, the cyclist is believed to be a man in his 50s from Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture. Both men were transported to the hospital, where they were later confirmed dead.

A witness nearby described the impact, saying, "It sounded like a bang or a boom—it really felt like an explosion."

The police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the fall.
