TOKYO, May 30 (News On Japan) - A visiting family in Tokyo’s Asakusa district was left shaken after witnessing a sudden outburst by a foreign tourist who punched their car and made aggressive gestures in the middle of the road.
According to video footage and statements from the victims, a man wearing a tank top was seen shouting and acting violently toward the family’s vehicle while it was passing through a busy road. He reportedly punched the car window and then stood in the road, yelling incomprehensibly before walking away when police were called.
The relief was short-lived. The man soon returned, continuing to yell in a foreign language and provoking the family by flexing his muscles and assuming a fighting stance. Dragging a suitcase behind him, he repeatedly made obscene gestures, including raising his middle finger.
The person who filmed the incident said the man had been standing in the middle of the road when they slowly drove past. "He suddenly started yelling and came running toward us," the witness said. "We didn't hit him or do anything. I just don't understand why he reacted like that."
The man's motivations remain unclear, but the family expressed frustration over the aggressive behavior. "We’re happy that people come to Japan for sightseeing, but we really hope they follow basic manners," one family member said.
Tokyo Metropolitan Police confirmed they responded to the call, but the individual in question had already disappeared from the scene by the time officers arrived.
