NAGANO, Sep 24 (News On Japan) - A festival float overturned at Ikeda Hachiman Shrine in Ikeda, Nagano Prefecture, on the night of September 23rd, injuring five children.
According to police, the float, about four meters tall, toppled inside the shrine grounds at around 9 p.m. Twenty-one people, both adults and children, were riding on it, and five children aged between 9 and 14 sustained minor injuries.
A witness described the moment of the accident, saying, "I thought it might have been going a little too fast. When it turned the corner, it leaned slightly, and before I knew it, it had tipped over with a crash."
Eight floats were paraded at the shrine during the festival. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
