TOKYO, Oct 15 (News On Japan) - A 14-year-old junior high school student died after falling from a building in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district, and a man standing nearby was injured when she struck him as she fell. Police say the girl may have overdosed on over-the-counter medication before the incident.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on October 13th in Shinjuku Ward, when the girl fell from a landing on a building staircase and collided with a man in his 20s on the ground below.
The girl is believed to have jumped intentionally. She was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead. The man suffered head injuries but his life is not in danger.
Investigators say the girl may have consumed an excessive amount of over-the-counter medication, and the Metropolitan Police Department is working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
