Tokyo reports 116 new coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 449

Sep 07 (Japan Today) - The Tokyo metropolitan government on Sunday reported 116 new cases of the coronavirus, down 65 from Saturday. The number is the result of 5,024 tests conducted on Sept 3.

The tally brought Tokyo's cumulative total to 21,772

The number of infected people with severe symptoms is 27, unchanged from Saturday, health officials said.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 449. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Kanagawa (79), Osaka (67), Fukuoka (35), Aichi (27), Chiba (23) and Saitama (21).

Five deaths due to coronavirus-related illnesses were reported.
