Luxury Train Launches New 2-Day Tour Around Lake Biwa

KYOTO, Jun 02 (News On Japan) - JR West has announced a new route for its luxury sleeper train, the "Twilight Express Mizukaze", which will circle Lake Biwa and connect Kyoto with Shimonoseki on a two-day, one-night journey.

The updated itinerary reflects a revision of the train's routes across the Sanyo and San'in regions, with the new course offering stops at several tourist spots and temples in Shiga Prefecture.

Passengers will also be able to enjoy regional cuisine made with ingredients sourced from Shiga, served onboard the train.

"We hope to share the scenery, history, and culture nurtured by the people of Shiga through the Mizukaze journey," said JR West's Kinki Area Manager, Tsuyoshi Gohkei.

The new course is scheduled to begin operating in spring next year.
