LONDON, Oct 14 (News On Japan) - Preparations for the first Grand Sumo performance in London in 34 years were shown to the media on October 13th, as workers began building the dohyo using soil sourced from within the United Kingdom.
Around 11 tons of earth have been brought in from central England to construct the ring at the venue. The five-day event, scheduled to run from October 15th to 19th, will see top-division wrestlers compete in a series of bouts culminating in the crowning of a champion. The matches will be held in a theater known as the “home of music,” which seats about 5,400 spectators. According to the organizers, tickets for the event are nearly sold out.
